Unique Opportunities for Global Scholars

internsProgram activities include seminars, conferences, speakers, study abroad opportunities, international film series and arts activities, publications, internships and field trips. Through each of these opportunities, the scholars are re-introduced to the world they are living in with an international perspective. Academic credit may be considered for approval on an individual basis.

Internship Opportunities

Internships are available with organizations across a web of global companies in the United States and abroad. Through the Graves Center for Calling and Career at Georgetown College, students will identify their interests and receive guidance in choosing an appropriate internship.

Beyond our borders...


Global Scholar Ashley shampour, International Programs Director Emily Brandon and Georgetown College student Jason Snyder host an international booth at Georgetown’s International Kite Festival.

Global Scholars can enhance their undergraduate experience through a number of overseas experiences.

The Oxford Tutorial Program: Through our partnership with Regent’s Park College of the University of Oxford in England, Global Scholars may apply to enroll in tutorials throughout the University, taking the same courses of study with the same faculty as do formally matriculated Oxford students.

Language and Culture in Chile: Scholars interested in developing their Spanish-speaking skills may elect to spend ninety days in Chile auditing classes and learning Chilean culture.

Hong Kong Baptist University: Georgetown College's network extends to China, where Global Scholars can attend Hong Kong Baptist University and explore the city known as “the place where the East meets the West."

Examples of seminars and events

  • Yearly Worldview briefing by Dr. John Stempel, Senior Professor of International Relations at University of Kentucky’s Patterson School of Diplomacy
  • Presentations by CEOs, CFOs, and Presidents of global companies in the formative years and those that have existed for a few generations
  • International art exhibits at museums and galleries
  • Behind-the-scenes tours of businesses and organizations engaged in international commerce, such as Alltech, Keeneland, Kentucky Horse Park, Lexmark, Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMMK) and the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
  • On-campus and off-campus attendance at monthly leadership development events
