Vision

To enhance the learning experience for students with an interest in expanding their global perspective

Mission

The Global Scholars Program at Georgetown College provides a fusion of a first-class liberal arts education with global learning opportunities customized to the scholar’s area of study.

Former Gov. Martha Layne Collins, the College’s Executive Scholar-in-Residence; Dr. John Stempel, Senior Professor of International Relations at UK’s Patterson School of Diplomacy and Georgetown College Trustee; and Global Scholar Ashley Hashampour.

Goals

  • To provide students with a first-class liberal arts education
  • To bring an interest for global studies into a broad-based scholarly context
  • To enhance students’ undergraduate preparation for a career of their choice with the training in international cultures, religions, customs and attitudes
  • To expand students’ understanding of past and present relationships among countries so that we may know where they are headed in the future

Program Partners

The program is enhanced by a relationship with the Kentucky World Trade Center and additionally strengthened by an academic partnership with the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, a graduate program that builds global careers for its students.  Our partnership with the Patterson School ensures that Global Scholars are invited to participate in Patterson programs such as lectures by distinguished international figures.
